Kate Hammett-Vaughan Quintet

Acclaimed as one of Canada’s most distinctive jazz artists, Vancouver-based Hammett-Vaughan’s adventurous, assured, and hip vocals have earned her three Juno nominations. The Toronto Star hails her as “a marvellous storyteller...with the knack of making everything she attempts sound newly minted,” while CODA magazine simply calls her “the finest jazz standards singer in Canada.” Through soul-searching ballads, swinging standards, and freewheeling sonic explorations, Hammett-Vaughan is supported and challenged at every turn by her marvellous band. With Chris Gestrin piano, André Lachance bass, Tom Foster drums, Jon Bentley, saxophones. Hammett-Vaughan also performs with the NOW Orchestra, and with various jazz projects ranging from duo to quintet settings.
