Mr. Solid

After seven years, hundreds of shows across Canada, 3 releases including the latest full length CD Straight Up, Mr. Solid has created a stir in Vancouver music scene. Formed in North Vancouver back in 1995, friends from elementary school Ryan and Josiah met Duncan in highschool who shared their passion for listening to and creating music. A common appreciation for punk rock music led the power trio to play shows with such bands as Straightfaced, Atom and his Package, dbs, Sector Seven, Another Joe, Morning Maker, and Crowned King.

Mr. Solid consists of Ryan C.(age 20) on guitar and vocals, Jo Solid(age 20) on bass, and Duncan Ius(age 21) on drums. Shedding away the image of just being another young band they continue to bring an even bigger sound, and more energy to the already wild stage presence of the group, which has included fire extinguisher spraying, big airs off speakers, nudity, and stripper shower dancing. In combination with custom lights, smoke, and stage props, Mr. Solid promises to deliver.

Their sound can be best described as a powerful array of punk rock, pop punk, emo, and hardcore, but they still manage to move their fans with jazzy influences and the occasional reggae breakdown. The music is original and provides a refreshing sound in the midst of mainstream pop and stagnant Alt-Rock. Come down to a show and be ready to have a wicked time and experience a performance that's hard not to watch.
