Founded in the fall of 1998 by Peter Dent, The Pacific Singers performances have included works by Vierne and Saint-Saens scored for choir and two organs, Lizst's Missa Choralis and the Paukenmesse by Haydn. In the spring of 2002 the choir toured the Czech Republic, with award-winning performances in Prague and Southern Bohemia. Since January 2004, Pacific Singers has been under the direction of our new conductor Richard Williams.

Richard Williams, the artistic director of The Penrhyn Group, a collective of several performing groups that offer concerts and recitals throughout the Lower Mainland, is responsible for the artistic direction and maintaining the musical excellence of Pacific Singers.
Goals

The goals of the choir are to prepare and perform concerts of choral masterpieces, which stimulate public interest in, and appreciation for classical music and the arts in general.

Pacific Singers provides a safe, welcoming environment for all singers. The open nature of our choir makes issues of previous experience, musical ability, age, race, origin, nationality, religious affiliation or sexual orientation irrelevant. The choir does not audition its members, everyone is welcome to join.

Pacific Singers embraces the "European Concert Choir" tradition, which means we retain works that have been performed in active repertoire so that, through multiple performances, the choir members can gain confidence and a greater understanding of the music. New pieces are added each season. Widely known as a voice teacher and a singer himself, Richard shares his broad knowledge of vocal technique and performance skills with the choir on a weekly basis, which enables them to achieve continuous development in vocal technique as well as learning the music for each concert.
