Bringing back the sounds of 80’s new wave, Spectator 6 tops spunky beats with cool synths, crunchy guitars, and girl-group style harmonies.
In the summer of 2018,Annie Wilkinson wanted to start a new girl-group that broke away from the sound of the guitar based bands she had previously been a part of - Zolty Cracker, Zulu/MCA recording artists knock-down-ginger,Thermos, Onward Voyageur - and focus on the 80s sounds of the bands she grew up with. Soon joined by Tallulah Winkelman (China Repair) on guitar and Terri Upton (Frog Eyes, Carolyn
Mark, Hank Pine) on bass, the band quickly set about writing a set of upbeat, electropop-punk songs strong on hooks and harmonies, and dealing with heartbreak, politics and feminism.
