The FLAT MOUNTAIN GIRLS

Old-Time Bluegrass from Portland Oregon
Old-Time American Bluegrass with the FLAT MOUNTAIN GIRLS, a high energy, Old-Time string band from Portland Oregon USA. The Flat's are known for light, raw three-part harmonies, powerful fiddling, and performances that explode with irrepressible glee and bawdy humour. Their repertoire includes arrangements of Carter Family classics, traditional songs from the Southern mountains, cowboy yodels, romping fiddle tunes, and the occasional original. They combine tremendous enthusiasm with great respect for the old-time tradition.

The Flat Mountain Girls have been whipping audiences into frenzy since early 2001. With their fast driving fiddle tunes, tight three part harmonies and spirited clog dancing, it's no wonder folks can't sit still. They play a mixture of pre-Bluegrass Old-time, early Country music and Mountain Gospel. Their rich vocal sound is based on tight harmonies of the early greats from the 1920's through the 1940's. The fiddle tunes and clog dancing hail from the Midwest and East Coast, Some of them dating back to the pre-Civil War era.

The Flat's reflect the true old-time spirit of fine musicianship and passion. With Lisa Marsicek playing fiddle, Rachel Gold on banjo, Nann Alleman on guitar and Laura Quigley on bass, the Flat Mountain Girls bring foot-stomping fun to every performance.
