The Crickettes

Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, The Crickettes are a two-piece folk-pop duo built around shimmering ukuleles, soaring harmonies, and the kind of warmth that makes you feel at home. Vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Sara Tkachuk (baritone ukulele) and Julianne Clease (tenor ukulele) discovered their shared musical spark back in 2018, grounded in the simple joy of two ukes, a living room, and a wish-list of songs to re-imagine.

Together they’ve honed what they call their unique “Crickette-sound”, a blend of folk, pop, and stripped-down charm that turns familiar favourites and original tunes alike into something intimate, spirited, and undeniably theirs. Their live shows often feature the unexpected twist of a kazoo, gleefully proving that musical joy doesn’t always need to be serious to be stirring.

Lyrically, The Crickettes balance light-hearted melodies with emotional depth. Their track “Monster,” for instance, envelopes you in breezy tones while hinting at uneasy undercurrents, inviting you to listen beyond the surface. Whether performing originals like “The Path You Set For Me” or re-imagining beloved tunes, the duo invite audiences to lean in, hum along, and perhaps remember the simplicity of when music was just two voices, two ukes, and a whole lot of heart.
