Old Man Ludecke
from Victoria BC
Emerging in the early 2000s with his debut Mole in the Ground, Luedecke quickly established himself as a distinctive voice in Canadian roots music. His witty and wistful lyricism, often paired with minimalist banjo arrangements, offered a fresh take on traditional folk. Albums like Proof of Love (2008) and My Hands Are on Fire and Other Love Songs (2010) earned him national recognition, both winning Juno Awards for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year – Solo.
His collaboration with American bluegrass legend Tim O’Brien on Tender Is the Night (2012) broadened his sound and cemented his place among North America’s great modern troubadours. Luedecke's 2019 release, Easy Money, saw him reflecting on fatherhood, aging, and identity with a matured voice and wider musical palette.
