Event Description
This fundraiser celebrates Suddenly Dance Theatre's 20th Anniversary of supporting dance creation and presentation in Victoria! TABOO honours the enduring curiosity and continued vision of our founding artistic co-directors Miles Lowry and David Ferguson. The title acknowledges the risks, the politics, and artistic innovations our company has moved through since 1992. We will toast and give thanks to the hundreds of performers, technicians, and volunteers who have contributed to our history.The intimate evening includes an exotic short program of music and dance featuring performers DAVID FERGUSON, MEERA MADHURIA, BRANDY BAYBUTT, LYNDA RAINO with live music by AJTONY CSABA, DOUGLAS HENSLEY, JOANNA HOOD & CATHY FERN LEWIS.
Guests will be invited to taste featured beverages, including our own TABOO cocktail, inspired by our love of that turn-of-the-century flavour absinthe. A silent auction of fine jewelry and fine art from prominent artists will be on display with: Miles Lowry, Debi O’Hehir, Irma Soltonovich, Anne M Kelly, Triple Spiral, and others.
TABOO will also feature visuals from Suddenly Dance Theatre’s recent dance-film Rush of Water / Rush of Air - enhancing the new Fall-themed renovation of the super-comfortable Superior.
