Event Description

Sifting Through the Layers
DVD Release/Premiere Screening in Recognition of March 21, the International
Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

An insightful and critical 40-minute video created by the “Youth Against
Racism” theatre group to explore issues of racism, identity, post 9/11
realities, and more.

A group of 11-17 year old youth creates a video that includes skits and
documentary footage in response to a demand for their workshops from
teachers and community agencies in BC and other parts of Canada. The
stories are real and the issues relevant. Thought provoking, controversial,
and an opportunity for this group of diverse youth to give voice to their
realities, which are often invisible in schools and mainstream media. A
facilitator guide to supplement the DVD is also in production. For more info, please contact Suki at [email protected] or (250) 885-1310.
