Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performers Clanna Morna at 9:00pm; Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the doorHailing from the occupied territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ Nations (Victoria, BC), Clanna Morna breathes life into their unique take on the Celtic Folk genre. Their sound is rooted in traditional Irish, Scottish, and English music, featuring carefully crafted arrangements, rhythmic spirited energy, and captivating storytelling! Clanna Morna focuses on telling the stories of those less fortunate throughout history; the rebels, underdogs, women, and queer people whose voices were silenced. Performing as a duo tonight, Cody Baresich sings, does foot percussion, and plays guitar and bouzouki, while Finn Letourneau sings and plays fiddle and banjo. Clanna Morna's collective musicianship and attention to detail contribute to a unique audience experience. Their shows are dynamic and diverse, bringing songs and tunes which are hundreds of years old into a modern context. Expect to dance along to upbeat jigs and reels and sing along to rebel songs and heartfelt ballads!
