Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performers Genevieve Charbonneau & Jeremy Walsh at 9:00pm; Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the doorGenevieve Charbonneau (Heartwood, Genevieve and the Wild Sundays) and Jeremy Walsh (Scruj Macduhk, Jeremy Walsh Band) are award-winning songwriters from Vancouver Island who together have been thrilling audiences with gorgeous harmonies and catchy, well-crafted songs. Genevieve’s 2023 single “Symphony of Sorrow” placed in the top three of the Folk category in the International John Lennon Songwriting Competition and Jeremy was 2007 Vancouver Island Music Awards Songwriter of the Year as well a collaborator on Scruj Macduhk’s Juno Award nominated album ‘Road to Canso’. Genevieve’s adventures in eco-homesteading, parenting, and love, and Jeremy’s explorations into Irish traditional music and Canadian blue-collar life form the foundation of their musical co-adventures together. Both are engaging, energetic performers and their honesty, wisdom and humor form the backbone of their performances.
