Event Description

Event type: All Ages

Two Mi’kmaw brothers reckon with traumas of the past on a quest that takes on sometimes surreal and supernatural proportions in this stunning third feature by L’nu director Bretten Hannam. Working in a far less naturalistic (but still remarkably compelling) mode than he did in WILDHOOD — the audience award winner at KCFF22 — Hannam boldly incorporates aspects of myth and magic along with discomfiting truths about the Maritimes’ colonial history into a story that surprises at every turn. The strength of the lead performances by Blake Alec Miranda and Forrest Goodluck is more than matched by the gorgeous cinematography by Guy Godfree and immersive score by Polaris Music Prize and Juno winner Jeremy Dutcher, making for an utterly original and uniquely enthralling cinematic experience.
