Event Description
Slim Sandy and Willa Mae have been singing roots music together in the Hillbilly Boppers since 2010, playing a mix of Old-Time songs, Blues, Gospel and Western Swing from the 1920s to the 50s. Slim sings and plays guitar and harmonica, while Willa sings and plays percussion and the “kazoo-o-phone”. Joined tonight by Johnny Acker on bass, they are promoting their latest album ‘Handsome Molly’.Slim Sandy & the Hillbilly Boppers performed at numerous festivals: Rifflandia in Victoria in 2015 and 2018; the Montreal Folk Festival in 2017, and Rock Around Turnhout in Belgium; Red Hot and Blue in Ontario in 2018; and Good Rockin Tonight in France in 2016 and again in 2023; in Spain in 2018 at the Screamin and Rockin Hillbilly festivals; and at the Western Swingout in California in 2022; and in 2024 in Spain at the Rockin Race Jamboree; in 2025 in Japan on a tour, and in Italy at the Summer Jamboree Swing Music Festival!
