The Victoria Choral Society is thrilled you can join us for our final concert of the season! Our program features the beloved classic, Ein deutsches Requiem, a monumental work by Johannes Brahms. Also, featured is the world premiere choral-orchestral arrangement of Marble of the West by Canadian-Iranian composer, Iman Habibi, a moving work that addresses the impact of environmental change – a powerful pairing to end our season.

Program duration is approximately 90 minutes with no intermission

Pre-Concert Talk

Join Iman Habibi, Jon O'Riordan (Gail O'Riordan Climate and the Arts Legacy Fund), Jacques Sirois (Greater Victoria NatureHood), and Brian Wismath at 1:30pm for a 30-minute pre-concert talk exploring Habibi’s Marble of the West. This discussion will delve into the impact of deforestation on the marbled murrelet seabird, alongside broader themes of migration and displacement that shape the work.

This concert is generously supported by the CRD Arts & Culture Support Service and by the following organizations through the Victoria Foundation: Gail O’Riordan Climate and the Arts Legacy Fund; NRS Foundation; and Le Fonds Chantal-Bérard.
